Affordable Gaming in SA: Raptor’s Guide

I’ve been in to gaming since a young age. Some of my first experiences were with the likes of the NES and the first DOS games on my dad’s Intel 80386, more commonly know as a 386. It’s been my favorite past time ever since. However I find myself battling to keep up with gaming because, unless you’ve been living under a rock, the price of gaming has skyrocketed in South Africa. The weak Rand has made a $60 game go from R300 – R400 a few years back to easily R800 – R1000 now. To put that in perspective, that’s 5-7% of the average South African person’s monthly salary per game.

Quite shocking isn’t it?

Male gamers are apparently still basement dwellers

So the past weekend was SA’s largest, annual gaming convention, rAge. Earlier this year the hosts of the event took a lot of flack for their redesign of Roxy, the NAG mascot and now it seems there’s been a bit of a hiccup again. This time focused around one of the stands at rAge. The Attraction Academy.

Virtual insurance isn’t that crazy an idea for MGSV (UPDATED)

So recently Konami revealed that they are launching virtual insurance packages for their FOBs in online multiplayer. Naturally the internet, myself included, exploded a little. But after the initial laughing and pointing fingers was over I actually stopped to consider this and it’s not actually too crazy an idea.
